Winnipeg Jets Reacquire Paul Stastny In Deal With Golden Knights

The Winnipeg Jets have announced the reacquisition of forward Paul Stastny from the Vegas Golden Knights. In exchange, the Golden Knights acquire a 2022 fourth-round pick and defensemen Carl Dahlstrom from the Jets.

In a likely effort to shed salary cap, the Vegas is trading Stastny in the final year of his current contract. The forward had initially signed a three-year deal worth $19.5 million.

The Jets originally traded for Stastny back in 2018 in an effort to acquire a second-line centre. Had Stastny still been with the team, he would have added much needed depth to a team that was bombarded with injuries during the Stanley Cup Qualifiers.

In 2019-20, as a member of the Golden Knights, Paul Stastny recorded 38 points on 17 goals along with 21 assists. He did so through 71 games. Prior to his team’s elimination in the Western Conference Finals, Stastny added another three goals along with six assists for a total of nine points. This, he did in 18 games before his team was eliminated at the hands of the Dallas Stars.
