Vegas Announces New AHL Franchise In Henderson

The Vegas Golden Knights officially announced their new AHL team as part of “Reveal Night on Thursday evening. The announcement was streamed on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Twitch.tv.

Team Names And Color

The team will be called the Henderson Silver Knights and the slogan will be, “Henderson means home.” Color and logo wise, it’s very similar to the Golden Knights, but just in silver, gold and black. The gold eyes pay homage to the Golden Knights who are located nearby in Paradise. 20 links of chainmail and 21 rivets represent the AHL’s new team and their inaugural upcoming season. However, the Silver Knights have yet to release uniform concepts, but those should be coming within the next few weeks.

What This Means For Vegas

This move doesn’t come as a shock as Vegas has recently been rumoured to be moving their AHL club after they purchased the San Antonio Rampage in late February. Since then, the Golden Knights have been working tirelessly to make this happen. News3, a local news station in the area, will be broadcasting 10 of their games next season.

The franchise will play at LifeGuard Arena in Henderson, Nevada. They are expected to break ground on the 6,000 seat arena in August and the team will begin to play there in the 2020-21 season. One interesting factor on the location is that it’s just 16 miles away from T-Mobile Arena which will be a huge benefit, not only for the players, but for the management team as well. They already have 7600 deposits for season tickets next season.
