On Tuesday September 29th, the Utah Grizzlies announced the re-signing of American forward Christian Horn. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. The Grizzlies bring the right-winger back for his first full season with the organization.
The right-winger was acquired in March from the Indy Fuel for future considerations. The righty played a single game with the Grizzlies hockey club, making his team debut against the Rush on March 7th. During that game, the forward picked up a goal before the season was halted just one week later.
On Sunday March 15th, the ECHL announced a league suspension. Having joined Utah via trade, the Grizzlies are the fifth ECHL team he has played for. In addition to Indy and Utah, Horn has also played with South Carolina, Rapid City and Norfolk.
Through Horn’s career in the league, the native of Plymouth, MN has appeared in a total of 144 games. In doing so, he’s scored 32 goals along with 46 assists for 69 points. Last season, through 22 games, he recorded five goals along with five assists.
Prior to making the jump pro, Horn spent two seasons playing in collegiate hockey with the with the St. Lawrence Saints. During the tenure he spent there, Horn racked up 11 goals along with 15 assists which made for 26 points. He did so in 62 games.
Horn had his best year statistically back in 2017-18 when he split time between two leagues, seeing time with the Admirals and Peoria Rivermen. Horn played in 56 games, recording 16 goals along with 21 assists. I’m looking forward to seeing what Horn can offer considering he only played in one game with the Grizzlies last season.
