The University of Vermont announced on Thursday afternoon that the women’s hockey team has paused all activities after a positive COVID-19 test was detected during weekly rounds that players are subject to taking. This comes as the UVM women’s team was on a five-game winning streak after back-to-back sweeps. Last week, they beat Holy Cross at home, and this week, paid a visit to the Connecticut Huskies.
There is no timetable on when activities will resume and the series will be rescheduled by Hockey East to a later date. Vermont has a clear schedule until February, at which time, they are slated to face Northeastern. The Catamounts are currently ranked fourth in standings for Hockey East.
This is the second time Vermont has been put on pause after a delayed beginning to the season in mid-December. Originally, the Catamounts women’s team was slated to start play during the month of November.
