Scouting Notes:

Justin Barron is an eye-catching defenseman. Very fluid and dynamic when he’s rushing the puck and pushing play and plays a similar style to New Jersey’s P.K. Subban. His offensive abilities are of high quality and possesses many skills that help him produce.

He’s also good at maintaining the puck on his stick while walking the blue-line to either find open lanes for a shot or an open teammate for a pass. While he doesn’t possess a canon of a shot nor great passing skills, he does have a well rounded offensive side.

He is less dynamic when playing defense and relies more on positioning and stick checking to separate the puck from his opponents. He doesn’t hit often, but it is an option in his toolbox and if needed, he will go for the body.

Barron did go through a tough three months as he dealt with a severe injury, being sidelined due to blood clots. The good news is he healed and therefore avoided long-term damage. He should have no pending issues when play continues, whenever that is.
