Player Notes

Peterson isn’t going to be a guy whose going to be NHL ready anytime soon and is coming out of his second year with the USNTDP U18 team. The 18-year-old center is a power-forward who is going to play a physical game on both ends of the ice. One of the downfalls which hurt Peterson is that he loves to hold on to the puck and sometimes. He keeps possession for just a touch too long which leads to turnovers, but he’s not afraid to take shots as he had 84 shots in 45 games this season.

The Roseville, CA native has committed to playing for Boston University next season which will prove to be a true test for him. Over his two years with the United States National Development Team, he’s picked up 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 98 games. In his second year with the club, he didn’t do much more than he did in year one which may worry some people.

However, his right-handed shot and physicality may be enough for a team to take a chance on him and see how he develops in college. Expect Peterson to go in the late second round or early third in the NHL Entry Draft.
