On Friday August 28th, the South Carolina Stingrays announced the signing of defensemen Connor Moore for the upcoming season. The Boston College alum joins the Stingrays hockey club for his rookie season. He does so after his senior year where he racked up two goals along with seven assists.
This made for a total of nine points which the right-handed shooter amassed in 33 games. He also adds a Plus/Minus of +9. Moore did all of this while leading the team in blocked shots with 44. He did so for the third time in four seasons.
The 5’11 defensemen is coming off of a less than perfect season. While improving his goals, assists and points totals compared to the season prior, this was a drop off from his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Boston Eagles. The native of Cummings, Georgia finished with over 10 points in both.
Overall, during his time at Boston College, Moore racked up a total of nine goals along with 36 assists for 45 points. He did so in 139 games. As well, he added 64 penalty minutes and a Plus/Minus rating of +29 for his career.
To go along with his statistics, Moore added a .063 career shooting percentage throughout his four seasons at Boston College. Moore’s size is of concern as he happens to be a smaller defensemen, but he makes up for it with his puck moving skills and his hand-eye coordination. The Stingrays will look to utilize both his skill and size in a top-four role this season.
