On Monday July 13th, the Atlanta Gladiators announced that experienced goaltender, Sean Bonar, would be returning for a fourth season between the pipes at the Infinite Energy Arena.
The 29-year-old has appeared in 97 games for the Gladiators and will be hoping to re-establish himself as the starting goalie, having made only 20 appearances in the ECHL last season. During his time with Atlanta, “Bones” has earned a reputation for his incredible highlight-reel saves, making him popular among both his teammates and the fans.
Bonar’s talent has even attracted the attention of AHL where he’s played two games with the Providence Bruins, proving his ability as a top goaltender. His commitment for the 2020/21 season is a huge boost for the Gladiators organization.
In a statement on his return to Atlanta, he said on Monday to the team’s website, “I have loved playing in Atlanta and jumped at the chance Coach Pyle gave me to come back.” The charismatic netminder is committed to improvement, adding that he has “made several changes to my offseason preparation in the hopes that I can bring myself to the next level, and be prepared to contribute to a championship season in ’20-’21. I cannot wait to get to work.”
