Reading Royals Sign Rookie Defenseman Dominic Cormier

On Sunday, August 11th, the Reading Royals announced the addition of rookie defensemen Dominic Cormier. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. He is the third defensemen to be signed to the Royals roster for 2020-21. As of now, the team has locked up both Rob Michel as well as Garrett Cecere.

Cormier was named by USPORTS to the 2019-2020 All Rookie Team. In a statement from Kirk MacDonald, head coach of the Reading Royals, he said, “Dominic showed strong progression throughout his junior career and continued that last season with a great season at the University of Ottawa. He’s capable of providing elusive speed and an offensive upside. We’re happy to welcome Dominic to Reading for his rookie year.”

Cormier, 22-years-old, weighs in at 181 pounds and stands at five-foot-eleven. Before signing on with the Royals, he played one season of collegiate hockey which he spent with the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Prior to that, he played four seasons of junior in the QMJHL between Rimouski and Victoriaville.
