On Tuesday August 11th, the Norfolk Admirals announced the signing of All-Star defensemen Dajon Mingo. Mingo, 30-years-old, is a ECHL veteran having played four 1/2 seasons. He comes from the Jacksonville Icemen – a team very hard to play against – after spending three seasons there.
Prior to making the jump pro, Mingo played two seasons at college alongside his new teammate, Jacob Reichert. Last season, Mingo led the Icemen defensemen with 26 points in 48 games played.
Mingo played his collegiate hockey career with Bowling Green University as a result of being red-shirted. He started his freshman year as a forward, and during his junior year, made the transition on the ice to defensemen. During the 2018-19 season, Mingo played saw time via loan with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.
