The Montreal Canadiens jumped on the ice Wednesday for day nine of their summer training camp. We finally saw Brett Kulak and Xavier Ouellet on the ice, but Kulak didn’t participate in a full practice. Philip Danault, Ryan Poehling, Victor Mete and Cayden Primeau all hit the ice while skating with the main group in Brossard, Quebec.
The Canadiens spent most of the day playing scrimmages with an almost full squad at the Bell Sports Complex. Here are the teams that were made for the intrasquad scrimmage:
TEAM RED
Tatar – Danault – Gallagher
Weise – Domi – Weal
Poehling – Evans – Belzile
Mete – Petry
Ouellet – Folin
Lindgren
Primeau
TEAM WHITE
Drouin – Suzuki – Armia
Byron – Kotkaniemi – Lehkonen
Dauphin – Hudon
Chiarot – Weber
Olofsson – Juulsen
Price
McNiven
This was the second scrimmage of summer camp and Team Red beat Team White by a score of 2-0. This was thanks to goals from Ben Chiarot and Dale Weise.
Speaking with the media after the scrimmage to provide his thoughts, the Canadiens head coach said on Zoom, “It’s fun to have our whole group together. I liked the pace of our scrimmage today. There were a lot of good things happening, and we were executing with speed. That’s what we have to do, because our team is based on speed – not necessarily size or grit. We have to be quick and our execution has to be good, and I saw the guys bring that to the scrimmage today. […] I liked our scrimmage today, to be honest, but there won’t be a better scrimmage than the one against the Leafs [next week].”
