Montreal Canadiens Agree To Two-Year Extension With Jake Evans

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed forward Jake Evans to a two-year contract extension. Evans, 24-years-old, will earn $700,000 on a two-way deal. This means he can be sent down, while in the second year, he will earn $800,000. That’ll be when the deal turns into a one-way.

Evans played 13 games this year in his first season with Montreal. As such, he recorded two goals along with one assist for a total of three points, He also had a +1 differential and played six games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Evans spent the last two seasons under Joel Bouchard with the AHL’s Laval Rocket. Through the time he saw, Evans recorded 27 goals along with 56 assists for 83 points. He also added 52 penalty minutes.

In his first season with Laval, Evans finished second in points with a total of 45. This year, he was the team’s leading scorer before the league halted play due to COVID-19.

The Toronto native spanned four seasons in collegiate hockey with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. There, he scored 41 goals along with 97 assists for 138 points. He did so in 158 games. That’s an average of 0.87 points per game. He also led his team to the Big 10 Conference in 2017-18.

The Canadiens selected Jake Evans with the 207th overall pick in the seventh round back in 2014.
