Metropolitan Riveters Find New Home For Upcoming Season

The Metropolitan Riveters have found a new home in Montclair State Ice Arena in Montclair, New Jersey. They do so after spending last season at Pro Skate Ice Arena in South Brunswick, New Jersey. Prior, the team spent three seasons at Barnabus Health Hockey House located in Newark. It was part of a three-year deal with the Devils that came to an end in May, 2019.

Montclair State Ice Arena To Serve As Home For Riveters

This isn’t the first time that the Riveters have used Montclair State Ice Arena. The team has gotten familiar with it, using the facility last season for practices. The move to Montclair State could help grow the development of women’s hockey. Not only that, but it could help young girls get into hockey while Ivo Mocek and his team call it home.

According to the arena’s website, multiple members of the Riveters will be given the chance to a host a series of clinics there. That list includes Nichelle Simon, Sonjia Shelly and Emily Janiga.

The arena also plays as home to five other women’s teams, including the Montclair State Redbirds. Along with the Redbirds hockey club, the facility plays as host to other adult and development leagues. This includes the Montclair Hockey Club which is one of the oldest hockey programs in New Jersey.

Montclair State Ice Arena also plays host to the Montclair State men’s team. Montclair State University recently assumed ownership back in the arena. Parabolic Performance & Rehabilitation, which is a sports training and physical therapy provider, is located on the upper level of the Riveters new home arena.

Their services have been made available to players training at home and all those who have returned thus far. Parabolic’s involvement with the team will provide them with amenities not previously offered.
