On Tuesday August 4th, the Kansas City Mavericks announced the re-signing of American forward C.J. Eick. While with the Mavericks last season, Eick racked up eight goals and seven assists for 15 total points. While adding on 16 penalty minutes, he managed to do so in 48 games. C.J. also became an alternate captain after Neal Goff was traded to the Stingrays.
Eick is a fan favourite because of his skating ability, his speed and his toughness. Eick is only 5’7, but he plays much bigger and leaves everything out on the ice. With a void in the captaincy created by Rocco Carzo’s retirement, Eick is a potential candidate to wear the “C” for the team next season.
He served as captain for the Utah Grizzlies before being traded to the Kansas City Mavericks. This is a player who is loved by both his teammates as well as the fans and I can’t think of a guy more deserving to be named as the captain of the Mavericks going forward.
