On Tuesday August 25th, the Kansas City Mavericks agreed to a deal with rookie forward Josh Laframboise. Laframboise spent the last three seasons with the Lakehead Thunderwolves in the OUA. In his final year at Lakehead University, Laframboise scored 16 goals along with 12 assists for 28 points. He managed to do so in 28 games.
Laframboise is a winger with good size, standing tall at 6’1 and 187 pounds. He also has a fantastic shot which should add some offensive firepower for the Mavericks. While goal scoring is definitely his best attribute, Laframboise also has a lot of toughness and grit. He’s not afraid to battle in front of the net or battle along the boards to create offensive chances.
Laframboise joins a Mavericks roster that is already trending very young, so it should be extremely exciting to watch all of that skill and athleticism on the ice next year. In my opinion, minor league hockey is at its best when every guy on the ice feels like they have something to prove. I think every Maverick signed so far, including Laframboise, will play with that chip on their shoulder.
