On Tuesday August 4th, the Kalamazoo Wings announced the signing of American forward Colin O’Neill. O’Neill, 25-years-old, is the proud son of Kathy and John O’Neill.
Born on July 28th, 1995 in Odenton, Maryland, O’Neill a 5’11, 190 pound lefty forward who comes from an athletic family. His brother, Jason, currently plays for Providence University and his 16-year-old brother, Cameron, is currently coming up through the junior hockey ranks. Cameron last played at school himself for Mount St. Charles Academy.
O’Neill amassed 18 goals with 26 assists for 44 points. This, he managed to do over four years spanned at Umass-Lowell. In his senior year, the River Hawks standout won the unsung hero award for his great contributions. Those contributions were made with UMass-Lowell on and off the ice.
He also won the Gus Coutu Award for showing the best spirit of the River Hawks hockey program. A very durable player, O’Neill didn’t miss a game in his junior season as well as his senior year. A promising young forward, O’Neill is the second player at the forward position the K-Wings have added this offseason. The Wings organization and fans are excited to see what he can add to the hockey club.
