On Friday March 26th, the ECHL announced that Indy Fuel head coach Doug Christiansen has been suspended and fined by the league. Along with the undisclosed fine, the league also announced that Christiansen is now set to serve a six-game suspension.
The decision comes after the bench boss was found to be non-compliant with the ECHL/PHPA Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary cap policies. Due to the fine and suspension, Christiansen, for the time-being, will not be allowed to attend any team functions. As well, he won’t be back on the bench until April 3rd when Indy takes on the Icemen.
This includes the next four games against the Fort Wayne Komets, three of which are on the road. Following that, he’ll miss a game against Wheeling, while his suspension expires as Indy plays host to Jacksonville.
