Forward Nolan Laporte Signs With Toledo Walleye For Upcoming Season

On Wednesday, October 28th, the Toledo Walleye announced the signing of American right-winger Nolan LaPorte. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. LaPorte had a successful college career, having spent it with the Western Michigan Broncos.

During his four years of college hockey, the righty put up 70 points while named as team captain in his junior season. As well, he added 176 penalty minutes, a rather large amount for a forward.

LaPorte started his career in pro hockey with the Quad City Mallards in 2016-17. There, he recorded 14 goals along with 30 assists which made for 44 points. He did so in 65 games. The following year, with the Florida Everblades, he scored eleven points through 22 games played.

In 2018-19, he would sign with Atlanta, scoring 38 points through 52 games played. With the Gladiators, where he would spend one season, LaPorte amassed a total of 107 penalty minutes. This would be the most to date in his ECHL career.

In 2019-20, he would head overseas, joining Glasgow Clan in the EIHL. There, he’d total 16 goals along with 23 assists which made for 39 points. This would lead the Scotland based hockey club, a number he compiled through 47 games.

Even while being a journeyman, LaPorte brings a solid resume with him to the table. Following the team’s other signings this offseason, LaPorte adds a wealth of experience and could really work well in Toledo’s second-tier range. That would find him fitting in on the front end. Another solid signing by the Walleye.
