On Monday, September 28th, the Reading Royals announced their signing of forward Jackson Cressey to an ECHL contract. He is the 16th player signed by the Royals so far for the upcoming season, but only the sixth newcomer. The rest of the team announcements have been players returning from the previous season.
Cressey stands six feet tall, weighs 181 pounds, and shoots right handed. The 24 year old West Vancouver, BC native played collegiate hockey for Princeton University between 2016 and 2020. He skated in 132 games tallying 32 goals, 84 assists, and 115 penalty minutes. During the 2017-18 season, Cressey recorded a career high of 38 points. In his senior season playing NCAA hockey, the forward was named alternate captain for his team. He was also the highest scoring player on the team his final season – tallying 22 points.
“Jackson was one of Princeton’s best playmakers in each of his four NCAA seasons. He brings good skating ability and a two-way game that we hope to help develop further in his rookie season.” said Kirk MacDonald, Head Coach of the Reading Royals.
