Florida Everblades Re-Sign Defensemen Michael Downing

On Tuesday August 11th, the Florida Everblades announced the re-signing of American defensemen Michael Downing. This will be his third season in Florida after having been traded from the Manchester Monarchs. During the 2019-20 season, Downing racked up three goals and seven assists for a total of 10 points. He recorded these numbers in 24 games played.

Downing also played six games with the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL. He was drafted 97th overall by the Florida Panthers back in 2013. His first professional stint was with the Portland Pirates of the AHL. There, he played a single game during the 2015-2016 season.

Downing then played for the Springfield Thunderbirds as well as their affiliate in the Manchester Monarchs. There, he’d spent the next three years before the Everblades acquired him in 2019.
