On Tuesday, August 4th, the Florida Everblades announced the re-signing of defensemen Cody Sol for the upcoming season. Sol has been playing with the Everblades since January 2nd after a trade from Cincinnati. Playing in 28 games this season for Florida, Sol racked up six goals and four assists, making for 10 points. Previously playing for the Cyclones, Sol racked up three goals and four assists in 23 games played.
Sol was selected 125th by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 NHL Draft. Sol started his professional career when he played a game for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. This was in the 2009-2010, but didn’t play professionally again until the 2012-13 season. He then played for the Colorado Eagles where he skated in 25 games while also amassing eight points (5G, 3A).
He continued his career in the AHL, playing 27 games with the St. John’s Icecaps. He then continued this trend, playing for other teams in the ECHL. This allowed him to play 353 games between Fort Wayne, Toledo and Ontario. Doing so, he racked up a total of 124 points combined with these teams.
Sol’s 6’6, 242-pound presence brings a lot to the ice. With 1,170 career penalty minutes, he proves that he’s a force to be reckoned with and isn’t afraid to get physical during a game.
