On Tuesday September 29th, the Florida Everblades announced the re-signing of American defensemen Theo Calvas. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. Calvas joined the Everblades hockey club in 2019-20 where he played in four games.
Doing so late in the season, Calvas did not score a goal, but recorded one assist with a +3 differential. This will be his second year with Florida and his second full season in the ECHL.
Along with the Everblades last season, Calvas, 22, has seen ice time with the Tulsa Oilers, Toledo Walleye and Allen Americans. Overall, he’s recorded three assists through 36 games while adding on six penalty minutes. Previously with the Peoria Rivermen, Calvas recorded two assists in two games played in the SPHL.
Prior to making the jump pro, Calvas played junior hockey with a number of teams in the Ontario Hockey League. Throughout his four-year tenure, the righty competed with the Soo Greyhounds, North Bay Battalion and Sarnia Sting. In doing so, he recorded seven goals along with 47 assists for 54 points.
