On Tuesday, September 1st, the Florida Everblades announced the signing of American defensemen Jake Clifford. Clifford was acquired last season from the Tulsa Oilers for future considerations. The 2019-20 season was Clifford’s first in professional hockey.
Between both the Oilers and Everblades, the Ohio native racked up four goals along with nine assists for 13 points. Before he made the jump to pro, Clifford spent four seasons playing in the NCAA with the Arizona State Sun Devils. Clifford played four years of collegiate where he scored five goals along with 12 assists.
As such, the right-handed shooter recorded a total of 17 points. For his performance in his junior season, Clifford was named recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar Athlete of the Year. This award is given to student-athletes who excelled in school, gave back to the community, and are esteemed players.
Based on his career in college, Clifford has plenty of potential and will make for a solid addition to Florida community.
