On Wednesday, October 28th, the South Carolina Stingrays announced the re-signing of American centreman Dylan Steman. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season.
Steman returns to the Stingrays after posting 20 points, having scored six goals along with 14 assists in 47 games last year. Steman is a reliable forward to the Stingrays and the team hopes he can expand on his role this season.
In a statement from Ryan Blair on Wednesday, head coach of the Stingrays hockey club, he said of the team’s latest signing, “We’re pumped to have Dylan back with us for the 2020-21 season. His consistent compete level and his willingness to get better is visible every day. He is a player that can play up and down the lineup and provides a great example of work ethic for our entire team.”
Prior to his arrival in South Carolina, Steman spent four games playing in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears. This was in 2018-19 where the native of Maple Grove recorded one assist.
Prior to that, Steman spanned five seasons with the Michigan Tech Huskies in the NCAA. He would serve as captain in his senior season. During his collegiate hockey career, Steman recorded 70 points, scoring 27 goals along with 43 assists. He did so in 154 games.
Prior to committing to college, the centerman would spend two seasons in the USHL with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. During that tenure, he recorded 24 goals along with 38 assists which made for 62 points. He did so in 114 games.
The Stingrays open their season on December 11th against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. They’ll play host at North Charleston Coliseum with puck drop scheduled for 7:30pmET.
