The Cincinnati Cyclones announced on Wednesday that they have signed captain Justin Vaive for the 2020/2021 season. The captain of the Cyclones has helped bring Cincinnati to two strong years in the ECHL. This includes winning the regular season in 2018/19 with 110 points.
He has been a Cyclone on and off since he started in the league back in 2011. This was interrupted by stints in the American Hockey League with various teams.
For the last two years as captain, he has recorded 69 points as a left-winger. However, with the season ending short due to COVID, that has only given Vaive more of a goal to secure the Kelley Cup. “Ending last year the way it did leaves you wanting more. I hope to help continue the winning culture in Cincinnati along with our quest for another Kelly Cup,” Vaive said in a statement to the team’s website.
This has been the first signing for the Cincinnati Cyclones so far this offseason. With the team letting go of some familiar faces and adding some new ones to the mix in Ohio, fans can rest easy that their captain will be returning for another season.
