After spending last season split between the PWHPA and the Boston Pride, forward Jordan Juron has returned to the league after signing a contract with the Buffalo Beauts. She announced this on Open Ice, which aired on Monday night, following the hockey club’s jersey reveal. The league has since announced the transaction.
For Juron, now signing with the Beauts doesn’t come as a surprise if you take a look at the team’s roster. Not only will it be her fourth season, but it’s with a club she is all too familiar with. Following her career with the Boston Terriers, she would make the jump pro, signing on with the Beauts.
Doing so in 2017-18, she would stick with the hockey club through 2019. At that point, as the state of the game withered, Juron made the decision to leave the league and take a stand. She did so along with Lisa Chesson, a former teammate of hers, who will be again.
These two weren’t alone, being joined as well by Boston’s Mallory Souliotis. However, all playing independently, neither member played in tour stops, thus not seeing much ice time. As such, Souliotis left early, re-signing with the Pride for her second full season.
Chesson, on the other hand, sat out the league’s fifth season, but has signed for season six. That made the defensemen the first player who sat out the full season to sign a contract for next season. While Juron sat out most of the season, she was anxious to compete and signed a contract with Boston.
Joining the Pride hockey club in January, the five-foot-eight forward played eight regular season games while adding one more in the Isobel Cup Playoffs. Helping guide the team to the postseason, the righty only tallied three points, having scored one goal along with two assists. Looking ahead the playoffs, she would net one more, her only point of the postseason.
That was in the league’s semifinals, as Jordan Juron provided depth to a roster stacked with talent. Now looking to make Buffalo home again, the native of New York is excited to get going. “I couldn’t be more excited to play for Buffalo again, and I am happy to call this city home now for good. With so much uncertainty these days, if I can give young players someone to cheer for and give them hope for their future in the sport of hockey, then that’s a win for me. I can’t wait to battle with this team, and we hope to bring the Isobel Cup back to our fans.”
While that feeling certainly resonates among her teammates, the wait for Opening Night now goes onwards with all six teams hard at work with weekly practices. Taking a brief look at her college days, the Beauts’ newest member tallied 40 points, scoring 15 goals along with 25 assists. From 2012-2016, Juron skated in a total of 141 games.
In a statement from Nathaniel Oliver, the new general manager of the Buffalo Beauts, he said of the team’s latest signing, “Jordan is a trusted leader and competitor. When she played for us previously, she was considered a bit of a secret weapon for the team. We have a young team this season, and Jordan is the type of player who sets the best kind of example. She has played with and against the best of the best. We are very pleased to have Jordan back in a Beauts uniform.”
