On Tuesday September 22nd, the Allen Americans announced the re-signing of Canadian centreman Colton Heffley. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. Heffley played in eight games with Allen in 2019-20 and recorded one goal.
At 6’3 and 210 pounds, Heffley brings size and strength to the hockey club’s offence, both of which are significant. The forward should be a player that fits the profile of all signed by Allen – skilled and tough to play against. Prior to making the jump pro, Heffley played junior hockey with the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL. As well, he spent one season with the Prince Albert Raiders.
Heffley played his first game with Allen towards the end of 2019-20. He did so after his collegiate career came to a halt due to COVID-19. Heffley attended Dalhousie University and played four seasons with the Dalhousie Tigers.
In a statement from head coach Steve Martinson with regards to the team’s latest signing, he said, “He’s big, strong, and tough. Colton (Heffley) is solid both offensively and defensively.”
Heffley joins the team’s current offence which consists of Zane Franklin, Spencer Asuchak, Jared VanWormer, Braylon Shmyr and Josh Lammon. It also includes Patrick Watling and Corey Durocher.
