On Thursday October 29th, the Adirondack Thunder announced the signing of Canadian left-winger Samuel Laberge. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. This is the first Thunder signing since the 24th of September. “We are thrilled to have him, and we know he’s a great player cause he played alongside James Phelan and Robbie Payne down in Texas,” said head coach Alex Loh.
Thunder Add Solid Locket Room Presence
Laberge started his junior career with the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL. He spent four years with the organization, scoring 55 goals along with 65 assists. That made for 120 points in a total of 166 games. Two of those years he spent as captain and was named on two occasions as humanitarian of the year. Laberge joins the Thunder hockey club after spending last season in the LNAH. He did so with the Sorel-Tracy Éperviers, scoring 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists.
The Chateauguay native last played in the league in 2017-18 with the Idaho Steelheads. That said, majority of his time from 2017-19 was with the Texas Stars. That of course being the case before heading over to the LNAH. It wouldn’t be a shock if he saw time in Binghamton when the puck drops in February.
Laberge is a big body and loves to throw around and drop the gloves, which shows that he’s willing to step up for his teammates. In hindsight, he will remind fans a lot of Gabriel Verpaiest, but a bigger upside for them.
