Scouting notes:

Brandt Clarke, from Ottawa, Ontario, is viewed by many as a fast and smooth skater. He completes a lot of tape-to-tape give-and-go style passes, both on the rush and at even strength. The defensemen also makes quick clean saucer passes to teammates in the slot. He also keeps his head up on his wrist shots while in the slot, which allow him to score goals.

Clarke is a player of high energy, who can a big difference through the course of a game. Coming out of the GTHL, it’s no wonder in 57 games, he scored 38 points along with 32 assists. Along with Clarke’s high energy, he’s no stranger to crashing the net and could be a high tier for defensemen in next year’s draft class.

The Canadian has silky smooth mitts that are very deceiving the way he dangles the puck; especially in a shootout for a goal. His brother is winger Graeme Clarke from the Ottawa 67’s and a prospect of the Devils. If New Jersey does end up drafting high, Clarke is a possibility of getting drafted there thanks to that connection. Whenever Brandt tallies a goal, he brings that P.K. Subban and Tony DeAngelo celebration and swagger type energy to the ice in a positive way.
