On Thursday, we finally saw a glimpse of Canadian defensemen Xavier Ouellet and the public was provided some clarity as to why he wasn’t seen at team practices. Ouellet did confirm to the media that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
He called the experience “weird and confusing,” saying that he had tested positive, but then the result was sandwiched by multiple negative ones. He followed all the protocols necessary and when he tested positive, went right into quarantine.
Ouellet isn’t even certain he contracted the virus because he was asymptomatic. The Montreal Canadiens skated on Friday, working first on the power play and then going into another scrimmage. The Canadiens will wrap up their summer camp for the final time Friday in Brossard, Quebec.
