Worcester Railers Playing Key Role In Community During Hiatus

Although the ECHL’s Worcester Railers might not be playing on the ice this season, they are still impacting the local community. This, however, should come as no surprise, as the Railers won the ECHL Community Service Team Of The Year award in 2019-20 for their community commitment and this year has been no different.

Most notably, they have run a Drive-Thru Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive in December, which benefited homeless families in the city. They also launched the “Hockey Feeds The Need” program in which they teamed up with local restaurants and businesses. It focuses on donating meals to food pantries, families in need and front-line healthcare workers. The program ran weekly throughout both January and February.

Additionally, back in October, the Railers teamed up with the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation in which they distributed food boxes through the “Food4Vets” program. They have also had mascot “Trax” make numerous appearances throughout the year at various events.
