The Puck Authority’s Three Stars Of The Night (Nov 3)

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Jonathan Huberdeau

Another win for the Florida Panthers and another great performance by Jonathan Huberdeau. The Florida Panthers, led by Huberdeau, shutout the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 4-0. Huberdeau, a Canadian forward, was the best player on the ice during the matchup and finished the night with two goals and an assist on the second goal of the game scored by Aleksander Barkov.

Huberdeau’s two goals were his eighth and ninth of the regular season and has moved him to fourth in league goal-scoring while tied with Dallas Stars forward Roope Hintz. Joining those two on that list is Elias Lindholm and Anthony Mantha. Huberdeau also sits tied with Nathan MacKinnon in sixth place in league scoring with 18 points.

⭐️⭐️ – David Rittich

The Calgary Flames shutout the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night as David Rittich kept the Blue Jackets silent while recording his second shutout of the season. Rittich had a fantastic performance, stopping all 43 shots that he was faced with in the win. It was Rittich’s seventh win of the season and arguably his best performance of the young season.

He made some pretty big saves to keep Columbus off the board. This included a pair of saves which can be found in the sequence below. Rittich is now the owner of a .915 SV% and a 2.79 GAA.

⭐️ – Mike Smith

In a game where Connor McDavid failed to record a single point, Mike Smith got his team the win on Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Smith was bombarded with shots from the Penguins and managed to be nearly perfect, stopping 51 of 52 shots he was faced with in the win. He would go on to finish the game with a .981 SV% and picked up his fifth win of the season as well.

Saturday against the Penguins was a big night for Smith, the veteran, as it was the fifth highest number of saves in franchise history and the third most without letting in more than two goals.
