Scouting Notes:
The Chicago Steel are being represented well in the draft with Brendan Brisson who is expected to go early in round two as well as his teammate Sam Colangelo who is among the most intriguing players in this draft.
The Massachusetts native boasted 28 goals and 30 assists for 58 points last year playing on a strong Steel team and being one of the most impactful skaters in the whole USHL. He prides his game around his puck protection and his strength is undoubtedly one of his key attributes. His shot is also a quality skill he owns and is never afraid to use.
Colangelo is committed to the Northeastern University where he’ll fill an offensive void left by Tyler Madden who signed an entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings. He’ll get a chance to work on his skating and mobility which is his current weakness. He’ll also be asked to help out offensively as they’ve lost a few offensive players over the years and want to continue their success. The Huskies are coming off another great season, winning their third Beanpot championship in as many years.
