Scouting Notes:

Mavrik Bourque comes into this year’s draft projected to a middle first-round draft pick. There’s a lot to like from the 18-year-old center and one of the things he does well is shoot. Once he gets the puck on his stick and has an opportunity to shoot, he will.

He doesn’t mess around with the puck and loves taking shots from the outside. He’s also got a knack for getting the puck to his teammates in tough situations and setting up plays.

He’s a guy who can play on both sides of special teams. Bourque has had success in the faceoff circle as he’s won over half his draws this season which has been a huge reason why he’s normally on the penalty kill. Like most players coming out of this year’s draft, it’s expected that he’ll be spending at least one more year in the Q where he’ll be very successful and will be a big part of the Cataractes offence next season.
