On Tuesday, September 8th, the Rapid City Rush announced the signing of American right-winger Bo Brauer. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season. The 2020-21 season will be Brauer’s third in the ECHL.
Brauer has already logged games for the South Carolina Stingrays, Atlanta Gladiators and Worcester Railers. Last season, Brauer recorded six goals along with 10 assists for 16 points. He did so in 51 games while also adding 19 penalty minutes.
Before making his ECHL debut, Brauer spent four years playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the NCAA. There, he helped guide the team to the Big 10 conference championship in 2017-18. Brauer began his hockey career in his hometown of Edina where he spent three years.
He also skated for Team Southeast and Team Southwest in Upper Midwest High School Elite League Hockey. Brauer also played one year for the Nanaimo Clippers in the BCHL. There, he recorded 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points. He did so in 56 games.
Upon graduating college, Brauer moved up through the ranks and made the jump pro to the ECHL. He did so with two brief five-game stints for the South Carolina Stingrays and Atlanta Gladiators. This was before finding a more secure role with the Worcester Railers.
In two seasons with the team in Worcester, Brauer played 82 games where he also served in the middle-six forward group. He did so, using his 6’3, 210-pound frame on the wing. He also recorded 131 shots on net.
Brauer joins Peter Quennville, Joey Sides, Tanner Karty and Gabe Chabot as recent signings. The 2020-21 season is set to begin on the fourth of December.
