It’s a day filled with hockey in the summer and we love it. Sunday will be a big day of some important games. The big question will be which players should you keep an eye on.

Alexander Ovechkin

Do you think Alexander Ovechkin is just going to sit back while his team goes down 3-0 in the series? Not likely. Ovechkin, who joined his team for game two, recorded Washington’s only two goals in their 5-2 loss to the Islanders on Friday. The Great 8 missed some nice chances in game two, but never the less found the scoresheet twice.

Carter Hart

You can bet that Carter Hart will be on his A game after getting pulled from the Flyers’ shutout on Friday. They were defeated by Montreal by a final score of 5-0. While Hart did not have a particularly bad game, his coach, Alain Vigneault, pulled him after the fourth goal to get his team to play harder. Each of the four goals the former Everett Silvertips star let in weren’t exactly his fault. But regardless, He’ll be looking for redemption in game three to help give Philadelphia the lead in the series.

Bo Horvat

You may want to start calling the Vancouver Canucks captain “Captain Clutch” from now on because that’s exactly what he has been. Horvat has been on fire so far during the Canucks series against the St. Louis Blues. With multiple highlight reel goals and the overtime winner in game two, the Blues will be doing everything they possibly can to stop Vancouver’s new captain.

Brendan Gallagher

Brenden Gallagher is having himself quite the series. While he hasn’t found the back of the net yet, he has done just about everything else. Creating plays, bombarding the opposition with shots, blocking shots, and just being a pest on the ice, Gallagher is a player that you can never underestimate. He is one of the hardest working players in the league and has put that on display all series. Even without finding the back of the net, look out for Gallagher make an impression in Sunday’s game.

Miro Heiskanen

No matter how many pucks the Dallas stars put on net, Cam Talbot was a brick wall, stopping everything that came his way. Finding a way to beat Talbot will be crucial for the Stars and look for Miro Heiskanen to do it. Heiskanen has done a great job creating offence for the Stars from the point and so far, throughout the first round, has found ways to beat Talbot several times in the net.

Heiskanen is a key contributor for the Stars and is crucial at both ends of the ice. He does a great job creating offence and is also an elite defender while in his own zone. Dallas will need Heiskanen to not only create chances in the offensive zone, but also be his best in his own zone if they have a chance at beating the Calgary Flames.
