Orlando Solar Bears Bring Back Tad Kozun For A Tad Longer

On Tuesday August 4th, the Orlando Solar Bears announced the re-signing of Canadian forward Tad Kozun. Kozun skated in just two games for the Orlando Solar Bears after being acquired from Kansas City back in March. The 2019-20 season was, of course, cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Kozun, 27, did score one goal in his two games with Orlando, and overall, for the 2019-20 season, he accumulated 13 goals and 13 assists in 54 games. Throughout his ECHL career between Kansas City, South Carolina and Orlando, Kozun scored 32 goals and 46 assists in 132 games. This made for 76 points while he also added 161 penalty minutes.

Before joining the ECHL, Kozun played college hockey with the University of Alaska-Anchorage. In 133 games in Division I hockey, Kozun totalled 29 goals and 40 assists for 69 points. Additionally, Kozun played junior hockey with the Nipawin Hawks in the SJHL. Kozun’s offensive prowess was on display when he led the league with 38 goals. This plateau, he accomplished in his final season playing hockey in his hometown.

Orlando will certainly be hoping that Kozun will help the Solar Bears improve their offence as this season, the hockey club struggled to put the puck past opposing goalies. Orlando ranked 21st in goals for last season and will certainly be counting on more in hopes of reaching the Kelly Cup playoffs.
