Norfolk Admirals Re-Sign Defensemen Sam Thibault

On Friday July 17th, the Norfolk Admirals announced the re-signing of defensemen Sam Thibault. Thibault, 24-years-old, played 32 games with Norfolk in the shortened season, and at the time of signing, is the second defensemen to be resigned by the Admirals. He joins Scott Dornback in the defensemen category. Thibault was traded to Norfolk from the Indy Fuel back on November 11th.

Unfortunately, Thibault’s season was cut even shorter than the already shortened season due an injury sustained in late January. The injury took him out against the Wheeling Nailers. 

Thibault turned pro during the 2017-18 season. Thibault scored nine assists while competing with the the Wichita Thunder. He has also played seen two games of action with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. While playing in the QMJHL, he played three seasons with Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

During his tenure there, Thibault recorded 40 assists, 281 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. As well, he served as alternate captain in 2015-16 and as captain in 2016-17.
