Montreal Canadiens Sign Alexander Romanov To ELC

Canadiens fans everywhere woke up to exciting news on Friday morning when it was announced that the team and the player had agreed on terms to an entry-level contract. While his salary has not been revealed, the contract, as largely expected, will last for a timeframe of the next three seasons. The 5’11 defensemen is officially coming to North America.

Romanov hasn’t officially put ink to paper at this point in time as there hasn’t been any clarity as to what will happen with the current NHL season. He has, however, agreed to a contract along with the benefits and incentives that come with it. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the contract won’t be made official until Montreal knows if Romanov will play this season.

Since being drafted by Montreal with the 38th back in 2018, Romanov has been overseas, playing for CSKA Moscow in the KHL. In 86 games, he recorded one goal and 10 assists for 11 points. He’s also played in various international events such as the World Juniors where in 14 games, he produced two goals and 12 assists for 14 points. For the contributions he made, Romanov was awarded top defensemen in the tournament.
