The Montreal Canadiens played their best game of the year on Friday afternoon. They were dominant from start to finish, scoring the game’s first goal just 62 seconds in. They didn’t allow the Philadelphia Flyers to even register a shot on goal until the final four minutes.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored a pair of goals and Tomas Tatar finally woke up, scoring two goals of his own. Additionally, the Habs went two for six on the man advantage and the penalty kill was solid, not allowing a goal. Not to mention Carter Hart was pulled after allowing four goals on the afternoon. All that to be said, expect a better performance from the kid on Sunday.
Kirk Muller knows the Flyers will be hungry for a response and Montreal shouldn’t get too high with that win.
Keys To Victory
Keep the speed up: The Canadiens controlled most of game two and they need to continue that on Sunday in game three. Their speed game five-on-five has been lethal and they are a dangerous team when they compete like that.
Throw pucks on net: Game 2 proved Carter Hart is human and a couple of goals were scored in the greasy area in front of his net. The Canadiens need to keep attacking that area.
Montreal Players To Watch
Max Domi : Domi had three assists in game two and was paired with Jonathan Drouin and Jesperi Kotkaniemi. All in all, he needs to keep it going.
Tomas Tatar: He finally got the monkey off his back in game two, scoring a pair of goals and he will look to continue that run.
Philadelphia Players To Watch
Scott Laughton: He is a vital part of Philadelphia’s offence, playing on that second line with Kevin Hayes and Travis Konecny.
Carter Hart: He will be looking to bounce back in game three, and has proven once he is on his game, he simple cannot be defeated.
Puck drop is scheduled to take place at 8:00pmET at Scotiabank Arena. The game is available for viewing on Sportsnet Ontario, CBC and NBC, meanwhile, it can be heard via radio on TSN 690 and 98.5fm. It will also be carried in Canadiens region on TVA Sports to be watched in French.
