On Monday July 20th, the Fort Wayne Komets announced the signing of American forward Mason Bergh. Bergh, 25-years-old, split last season with the Fort Wayne Komets and the Ontario Reign of the AHL. The forward recorded 10 goals in 29 games while with the Komets.

Speaking with the team’s website on Monday, head coach Ben Boudreau said of Bergh in a statement, “Mason is a player you can trust to play in any position, at any point in the game. He is a complete 200-foot player. While it is easy to witness his contributions on the ice, his value off of it cannot be overlooked. He is a terrific teammate and his infectious personality is a major asset inside the locker room.”
Also announced by the Komets on Monday, Alan Łyszczarczyk and defensemen Chase Stewart were both traded to Idaho in exchange for cash considerations. Łyszczarczyk picked up Rookie of the Year honours, posting 19 goals and 46 points in the orange and black. Stewart has spent the past two seasons with the K’s, posting seven goals and 20 points along with 155 penalty minutes. He managed to do in a total of 55 games played.
The last little bit of news is that defensemen Adam Henry has announced his retirement from the world of pro hockey. Henry made his pro debut with the K’s, appearing in seven contests, collecting one assist along with six penalty minutes.
The Komets roster swells to 15 players with the addition of forward Mason Bergh. The K’s now have one goalie, five defensemen and nine forwards as they prepare for the upcoming season.
