Kansas City Mavericks Re-Sign Mitchell Vanderlaan

On Wednesday August 12th, the Kansas City Mavericks agreed to a contract with Mitchell Vanderlaan for the upcoming season. The Cornell University product was acquired via trade with South Carolina in February. In his 14 games with the Mavericks, Vanderlaan recorded two goals along with three assists for a total of five points. In 32 games with the South Carolina Stingrays, he amassed five goals and eight assists for 13 points.

Vanderlaan has a lot of speed and skill, and when you combine that with his high hockey IQ, it makes him a very dangerous player. While standing at only 5’7, he can surprise you with his strength and his drive, winning battles against opponents much bigger than he is. Vanderlaan brings an element of speed to this Mavericks offence which provide them with an extra boost, thus being a benefit for the hockey club this season.
