Kalamazoo Brings Back Skilled Forward Tanner Sorenson

On Monday August 17th, the Kalamazoo Wings announced the re-signing of Alaska native Tanner Sorenson. Sorenson, 27-years-old, is returning to the league for the fifth season with the K-Wings.

Over the last four seasons, Sorenson has scored 67 goals and 95 assists for162 points. Along with 253 penalty minutes, he’s amassed these numbers in 216 games played. Sorenson brings great offensive upside with an incredible shot when on the power play.

He also adds physical play which is an important part of his overall game. Tanner also brings a veteran leadership to the K-Wings which helps the younger players both develop and grow. Last season, Sorenson picked up two assists during a 12-game stint with the AHL’s Utica Comets.

While doing some research to write this article, I learned the following fun facts about Tanner. All are courtesy of an interview in which he gave with Fox 17 Western Michigan.

• Favorite NHL player growing up – Steve Yzerman. Apparently, the Red Wings rivalry with Colorado back in the day was a big contributor to this fun fact.

• If Tanner could eat one food for the rest of his life, what would it be? – Chipotle Burrito. He did not specify chicken or steak.

• Favorite movie of all time – Youngblood. Not a surprise there that he went with a hockey movie and a good one at that.
