Jamie Milam Makes Return To Fort Wayne As Komets Prepare For Training Camp

As the 2021-22 regular season approaches, the Fort Wayne Komets announced the return of a familiar face to the organization, as they focus on finalizing their roster with training camp starting October 11.

Defenseman Jamie Milam will make his fourth appearance as a Komet, bringing with him experience, having skated in 787 career contests between three different leagues.

Milam signed a contract with Fort Wayne back in 2006 before returning to northeast Indiana in 2011-12, a season that saw him score 20 goals, while also leading the Komets to a President’s Cup title in the CHL. The 37-year-old remained in Fort Wayne through 2012-13 before heading overseas for the next several seasons.

A seasoned veteran of 14 campaigns, Milam, throughout the duration of his career, has tallied 191 goals and 319 assists.

“This will be Jamie’s fourth tour of duty with the Komets,” said David Franke, GM of the franchise. “It’s exciting to bring back a player who knows how to win a championship.”

Rookie Sacha Roy has also signed with the Komets, coming off of four seasons in the QMJHL. Now 22-years-old, Roy, between the Cape Breton Eagles and Baie-Comeau Drakkar, accumulated 332 penalty minutes.

“Roy is the type of defender that thrives on the physical side of the game,” said Head Coach Ben Boudreau. “He gets his nose dirty and forces the opposition to play with their heads up.”

Four days after camp starts, the Komets will play a two-game exhibition series against Wheeling, as they travel to West Virginia on October 15 before returning home the following evening for their last preseason tilt at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The regular season begins October 23 when the Komets welcome Wheeling back to Fort Wayne, with puck drop scheduled for 7:35pmET. Prior to the game, the coveted Kelly Cup will be presented, while a championship ring ceremony takes place and the championship banner is raised to the rafters. A number of Komets alumni will also be in attendance.
