On Thursday September 17th, the Indy Fuel announced the re-signing of Canadian goaltender Dan Bakala. The two sides agreed on a standard player contract for the upcoming season.
Bakala rejoins the Indy Fuel after signing with the team back on January 1st. Bakala, 32-years-old, appeared in 17 games with the Fuel last season. During the games he started in, he posted a .925 save percentage along with a 2.43 goals-against average. The native of Calgary, Alberta also racked up seven wins and three ties.
Prior to signing with the Fuel, the backstop appeared in five games for Mora IK in the Swedish Allsvenskan league. In those five games he started, Bakala posted a GAA of 4.26 and a .854 save percentage.
During the 2018-19 season, Bakala appeared in 49 games with Villacher SV in the EBEL. In those 49 games, Bakala earned a GAA of 3.06 and a .908 save percentage. The netminder also has experience having spent seven seasons in the top European leagues. Having played in the DEL and SHL in both Germany and Sweden, Bakala won the Champions Hockey League title with the Frolunda Indians in 2016-17.
