On Thursday October 1st, the Idaho Steelheads announced the signing of American forward Brett Supinski. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season.
Supinski re-joins the Steelheads after making his debut with the team last season. In his first year with the hockey club, Supinski recorded 19 goals along with 19 assists through 41 games. This made for 38 points and which would come up tp 0.93 points per game.
His impressive rookie season statistics led to his selection as Rookie of the Year. Prior to joining the Steelheads, Supinski, in 2018-19, saw a brief two games in the American Hockey League. He did so with the Ontario Reign.
In a statement from Everett Sheen, head coach of the Idaho Steelheads, he said of the team’s latest signing, he said, “We are very excited to have Soupy back for the upcoming season. He made an instant impact with us last year and was a tremendous piece of our offense. With his skating ability combined with his skill, we are looking for him to have an even bigger second season here in the Treasure Valley.”
Prior to making the jump pro, Supinski spent four seasons playing with the Union College Dutchmen in the NCAA. He did so with backstop Jake Kupsky, who recently signed with the Steelheads himself. Over the course of his college career, Supinski recorded 35 goals along with 73 assist for 108 points. He did so in 135 games while also adding a differential of +7.
Upon signing his contract on Thursday, Supinski said about his return to the hockey club, “After last season’s abrupt ending, we are all itching to get back on the ice. I cannot wait to be back in Boise and play in front of the best fans in the league!”
The native of Collegeville, PA is collectively the thirteenth player added by Idaho and the eighth forward signed for 2020-21.
