On Wednesday August 26th, the Cincinnati Cyclones announced the signing of rookie forward Thomas Beretta. The two sides agreed to terms on a standard player contract for the upcoming season.
Beretta is a 25-year-old forward that originally hails from Pomerton, Ontario. Beretta spent the first three years of his collegiate career with Michigan Tech. He then transferred to the University of Vermont where the right-handed shooter spent his senior season.
Beretta heads to Cincinnati while having some experience in the league under his belt. After 31 games in Vermont, the forward signed with the Norfolk Admirals. There, he would play one game at the end of the 2019-20 regular season.
In Beretta’s senior campaign with the Catamounts, he recorded a pair of goals along with four assists for a total of six points. Along with 14 penalty minutes, he managed to do so in 31 games. Overall, his collegiate hockey stats consist of 16 goals, 16 assists and 32 points. This also includes 60 penalty minutes.
In a statement from head coach Matt Thomas with regards to the hockey club’s latest signee, he said in a release on Wednesday afternoon, “Thomas comes highly regarded as a two-way center with leadership ability. His ability to play in all situations will help complement our returning players. We look forward to having Thomas create depth up the middle in a very important role.”
