The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres (NHL) and Rochester Americans (AHL), have announced their first rookie signing of the 2020-21 season. They announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have signed forward Tyler Busch for next season. Busch, 24-years-old, is a product of Arizona State University. He hails from Lloydmister, Alberta and comes into Cincinnati after putting together a solid college career.
In 2016-17, Busch put up a stat line of nine goals and 11 assists. While also adding 58 penalty minutes, he managed to do so in 32 games. In 2017-18, he scored seven goals and eight assists. Then, he added 79 penalty minutes which he recorded in 29 games. In 2018-19, he wore the captains “C” for the first of the two seasons he wore it for.
While with Arizona State, he scored seven goals and 14 assists. Adding on 71 penalty minutes, he managed to do so in 34 games. In his final collegiate season, he had a plus/minus rating of +15. This of course was joined by 18 assists to go along with three goals. He did this in 36 games to go along with 41 penalty minutes.
In a statement from Tyler Busch, he said of thrill to sign on with the Cyclones, “I am very thankful to begin my professional career in Cincinnati. I plan to bring an energy and passion for the game which will hopefully be exciting to watch and can help build on what is already a very successful hockey club. I would like to thank my family, as well as my past coaches and teammates who have pushed me to get to this point and helped me prepare for this opportunity.”
