In the day’s third NHL trade, Kevin Weekes of NHL Network reported that the Carolina Hurricanes acquired from Florida Vincent Trocheck for Erik Haula, Lucas Wallmark and two prospects. This was later confirmed by Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic Toronto.
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.ca, joining Erik Haula and Lucas Wallmark is Eetu Luostarinen and defensemen Chase Priskie. Friedman also reported that the deal would not include picks or retention of salary.
As per TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Hurricanes, despite acquiring Trocheck, are still chasing a defensemen and would prefer not to go down the rental route. As well, Pierre LeBrun reported that the Florida Panthers, much like the Hurricanes, are trying to add a defensemen before the 5:00pm deadline.
