Boston Bruins: Tuukka Rask Opts Out Of NHL’s Return To Play

The Boston Bruins announced on Saturday that goaltender Tuukka Rask would be opting out of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Boston Bruins and Tuukka Rask released the following statement.

The 33-year-old played 41 games during the 2019-20 regular season and had a 26-8-6 record along with a .929 save percentage. Rask, a native of Finland, was also named as a finalist for the Vezina Trophy.

Tuukka Rask cited family reasons for his opting out of Stanley Cup playoffs. In a time like this, it would be difficult to fault such reasoning as the health of oneself and their family takes the utmost priority.

The news comes just ahead of Game three of Boston’s first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes. It is now expected that Jaroslav Halak will get the start for the Bruins with the series tied at one.
